The YSF is an important investment in collaboration and understanding in the region. Networking, cultural exchange and future scientific collaborations are given optimal conditions to develop and grow. Exchange of knowledge and perspectives create synergetic effects throughout the area and prepare the ground for cooperation in the years to come.
YSF aims to:
1. Create a meeting place for young professionals interested in Arctic issues
2. Facilitate networking between junior and senior colleagues
3. Provide tools and training to enhance communication skills and career development
4. Help to develop and fund ideas for research projects
5. Enhance cultural exchange between countries and disciplines.
Career Development – Networking - Training
The Young Scientist Forum offers several opportunities for training and events to enhance the career development of young professionals with interest in Arctic issues. Training focuses on communication and outreach, project management and intercultural exchange.
YSF was initiated in 2007 by the ARCTOS Research Network, Tromsø High North Cluster (THiNC), and Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS). In the course of the prcess, UArctic has become a partner. The activities of YSF run from Thursday 20 January - Wednesday 2 February 2011 and are connected to the Arctic Frontiers Conference.
