The Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Finland) organized the first workshop on Arctic migration on April 18, 2016 in cooperation with UArctic. The aim of the workshop was to establish a new research team for the Arctic Centre and a new UArctic Thematic Network in the field of Arctic migration.

The third Barents Summer School will be arranged in Oulanka Research Station in northeastern Finland on August 1-6, 2016. The theme of the doctoral course, Towards Sustainable Communities, covers the whole complexity of sustainability of the communities in the Barents Region.

A total of 13 offices and institutes of the National Institutes of Health in the USA invite applications for their dissemination and implementation research in health funding. The call is open until 16 June 2016.

As parts of a specialization in Greenlandic Health and Environment of the Arctic, five courses on Arctic subjects are offered by the during the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2016. Courses will take place in Nuuk, Greenland. A limited number of places is available. Application deadline has been extended until June 1, 2016.

International Scientific Conference “Monitoring and Assessment of the Development of the Arctic Zone” will be held at Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk, Russia) on May 19-20, 2016.

The sixth Northern Political Economy Symposium, organized September 8-9, 2016 in Rovaniemi, Finland by the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, will discuss everyday life in the Arctic and various tactics of tackling the changes in it. This is the first call for abstracts, with the deadline of May 31, 2016.
