Our adventure begins on Sunday June 8 2025 at 5:00 PM by bus for a scenic 1 hour and 15 minute ride. During the trip, Kirsi Ukkonen, Senior Specialist in Recreational Amenities from Parks&Wildlife Finland/Metsähallitus will share insights about the Sacred Sulaoja spring of the Sámi.
âť– We will also hear about the Kevo Strict Nature Reserve, because the over 80 km-long hiking trail through the area begins by Sulaoja.
âť– Upon arrival at Sulaoja, we'll explore a picturesque 2 km nature trail on foot, immersing ourselves in the serene beauty of the landscape. As we walk, you'll have the opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about the cultural history of this sacred site by reading the information boards along the path.
❖ After our hike, we'll head to the cozy Restaurant Giellajohka for a delightful dinner. You may taste the flavors of traditional portion of sautéed reindeer, a local delicacy made of the local reindeer meat.
âť– During our return journey, we shall make a stopover at the Lapland War Memorial in the village of Kaamanen. This brief visit will offer a moment of reflection on the region's history before we continue back to Inari.
âť– The Sulaoja nature trail takes you through varying esker terrain. There are some height differences on the trail, and you will need good shoes for the walk. Depending on the weather conditions, there might be some moist places along the route.
âť– We shall return back to Inari around 10 PM
