The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is searching for motivated and enthusiastic interns for fall 2025 who are interested in Arctic matters and willing to acquire knowledge of the Northern region, its environment, peoples, and cultures.
The internships will provide an environment in which the intern can develop, enhance professional working and communication skills, and expand networks for the future.
UArctic is a cooperative network of universities, colleges, research institutes and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. Two intern positions are open from September 1 to December 31, 2025: one at the UArctic International Secretariat (at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland), and one at the UArctic Thematic Networks Office (at the University of Oulu, Finland). The internship placements are supported by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.

Successful candidates should have:
- excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- good ICT and social media skills (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- experience in organizing and promoting events
- social skills for working in international and intercultural environment
- skills in photography are considered as an asset
- understanding and knowledge on Arctic issues
- ability to work independently, under leadership and with multiple tasks

What are the planned tasks?
- Assisting with UArctic impact assessment study by collecting data, finding reports and Thematic Networks publications, setting up interview dates and times, and assisting in note-taking
- Helping with Thematic Networks leaders' meeting practicalities
- Updating Thematic Networks webpages and member information
- Publishing Thematic Networks news stories

What are the planned tasks?
- Writing and posting news stories about events and activities from the UArctic network and around the Arctic
- Updating the UArctic website, especially UArctic member information and study offerings
- Maintaining our social media engagement, and events calendar
- Assisting with the collection and maintenance of UArctic activity and member reporting data
- Collecting data and working on updates for the UArctic webpages around nationally funded projects, especially content focusing on Danish, Greenlandic and Faroese member institutions
- Assisting in promoting UArctic, in particular with regard to Danish, Greenlandic and Faroese member institutions
- Assisting with planning and organization of the UArctic Congress 2026, a part of the Kingdom of Denmark Arctic Council chairship program
- Helping with practical preparations of UArctic meetings and reports
When? What? How?
The internship period is 4 months (September - December). Applicant is responsible for finding housing independently during the internship placement. Salary for each internship: 1 466€/ month.
