"I am a researcher at the Centre for Public Health in Greenland (University of Southern Denmark). Last year, my family and I relocated from Nuuk, Greenland, to Denmark. I was very pleased to receive north2north funding this year, which enabled me to travel back to Nuuk at the end of April 2025 to reconnect with colleagues at Ilisimatusarfik – University of Greenland, as well as with other collaborators in the city.
My first meeting was with partners from the former UArctic-funded project Naapinneq – Inuit Kalaallit Nunavummiullu / Gathering – Inuit from Greenland and Nunavut. In a sharing circle, we reflected on what we had been thinking about or working on since returning from our exchange with the Qaujigiartiit Health Research Center in Iqaluit, Nunavut. We also discussed new ideas and the next steps for the project.
I also had the pleasure of joining the cherished Friday breakfasts at the Institute for Health and Nature (Ilisimatusarfik), where staff—including PhD students and lecturers—gather to connect and spend time together.
The main event of my trip was co-facilitating a network meeting for national stakeholders involved in initiatives under the national public health program Inuuneritta III. The meeting was organized by the Centre for Public Health in Greenland in collaboration with Paarisa, the health promotion and prevention department under the Board of Social Affairs. This was the second time the annual meeting was held, with the aim of supporting the implementation and monitoring of Inuuneritta III.
Together with Paarisa, we developed an engaging program that emphasized fostering connections among participants and incorporating visual, creative, and artistic elements that documented the presentations and discussions. Feedback from attendees was very positive. Many expressed that the event had been both inspiring and energizing, and that it opened their eyes to new opportunities for collaboration—helping us move closer to our shared vision of a good life for children and young people."
