The Coordinating Council’s regular meeting was held in Moscow, on October 23. Leaders of the regional associations of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East as members of the Coordinating Council participated in the session.

The Arctic Report Card is updated annually in October and tracks the arctic atmosphere, sea ice, biology, ocean, land, and Greenland. The 2009 update indicates that warming of the Arctic continues to be widespread, and in some cases, dramatic. Linkages between air, land, sea, and biology are evident.

UArctic member organizations in Sweden gather in Abisko, Sweden, for two days of meetings to discuss participation in UArctic's programs and coordination of fundraising activities in Sweden.

Following an initiative made by Sinikka Bohlin, President of the Nordic Council and long-term friend of UArctic, the Nordic Council approved an increased prioritization for Arctic research and higher education into the Nordic funding instruments.
