Studying on the 70° parallel, Irina Demina feels like she’s on top of the world. Since arriving in Tromso Norway in early August 2007, the 21 year old Russian exchange student has felt at home in her new northern surroundings, and is thoroughly enjoying her experiences of studying and living above the Arctic circle.

The University of the Arctic’s Thematic Networks (TN) program continues to grow. Kirsi Latola, programme coordinator for TN Programme office, has already received several ideas for new networks.

NOAA National Weather Service, Arctic Region Supercomputing Center, College of Natural Science and Mathematics, Geophysical Institute, and International Arctic Research Center invite abstracts for 20-30 minute presentations at the Little Alaska Weather Symposium (LAWS), to be held 12-13 May 2008, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
