On June 27-28, policy leaders, researchers, tech industry experts and other executives met in Sapporo, Japan to discuss the need and potential for broadband across the Arctic, and how to best prepare for the many opportunities and even challenges the new technology will bring with it.

University of Helsinki and Helsinki Think Company are gathering together students interested in the Arctic to plan and carry out a meaningful event, campaign or a project that will communicate Arctic opportunities and challenges. International application deadline is on July 29.

Arctic Circle Assembly participants are invited to attend the final of the Mon projet nordique competition, which brings together six PhD students from Québec (Canada) and six international PhD students. The final of the contest will be organized on October 19-21, 2018 in Reykjavik, Iceland.

UArctic Chair Dr. Jeff Welker and colleagues in Finland and across the Arctic have received Academy of Finland (AoF) funding and EU INTERACT support to study the changing Arctic water cycle. 





Outi Snellman, UArctic Vice-President Organization and Director of International Relations of the University of Lapland, has been appointed as Hokkaido University Ambassador. Her role is to enhance academic relations between Hokkaido University and universities in the northern parts of Europe.
