North-Eastern Federal University has opened a call for applications for its annual summer school programs. This year it offers six summer school programs in different fields of studies.

UArctic’s Thematic Network on Natural Hazards is holding a symposium on Natural Hazards in the Arctic on March 14th during the Arctic Science Summit Week 2016 in Fairbanks, USA.

The 4th China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Symposium will take place in Rovaniemi, Finland, June 6-9, 2016. The meeting is hosted by the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland and organized by the China-Nordic Arctic Research Centre (CNARC). The call for abstracts is now open, with a deadline of February 25, 2016.

Nordforsk's Call for Pre-proposals for Nordic Centres of Excellence: "Advancing the bioeconomy transition in the Nordic region" is now open. The deadline for this call is 16 March 2016.

The UArctic Thematic Network Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design is calling for contributions in the form of chapters and visual essays to its upcoming book publication, Relate North: Culture, Community and Communication.

NordForsk launches a call for proposals within the programme "Gender in the Nordic Research and Innovation Area". Application deadline is 27 April 2016.

The Joint Committee for Nordic research councils in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOS-HS) has opened a call for workshops in order to promote the development of new research areas and programmes within the humanities and social sciences in the Nordic countries. The deadline for this call is 23 February 2016.

One of UArctic's newest Thematic Networks, Teacher education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education, held its opening symposium at the University of Lapland on January 12-14, 2016.

The public symposium gathers together Arctic scientists, students, policymakers, industry and NGO representatives and other key stakeholders as well as the general public.
